Why do companies offer free stuff and freebies?

There are many many freebies out there - new ones arrive regularly. I find them in the newspapers I read, mentioned on tv ads, in magazines - everywhere I go.

Take a typical examples -in the life of a Freebie Addict!

Journey to Manchester centre involves picking up a free paper on the bus - The metro often has freebies in too - look out for dining discounts, free cinema tickets and other discounts too. Many major cities have free morning papers - and last time I was in Manchester in the early evening they even give away a lite version of the evening paper free too!

A quick trip to the supermarket can score you some real instant freebies of a cake or biscuit sample, a trial offer of some milky product in tiny bottles, free vouchers in the instore free magazine. Cut these out and carry them with you.

Check the other papers if you get one - the tabloids and the broadsheets have vouchers for money off in from time to time.

Women's magazines are good sources of vouchers - again clip them after you've read the magazine.

If you want supermarket bargains you can try just before closing time - you can get cut price fresh produce which is fast approaching its sell by date. Some supermarkets are better than others but don't go out of your way else the petrol or bus money you use won't make up for the bargains you get.
If you want to make the most of these sort of bargains either be prepared to use them that day or freeze them when you get home to ensure they last.

Look through your junk mail when you get your post - more companies try sending you discounts and even free samples.

Companies offer you all these discounts and free samples to get you to try their products so that you'll instantly fall in love with their products and buy only theirs.

Sometimes it works really well - washing powders can be a bit hit and miss trying a big box of powder if you're not sure you're going to like it, but a free sample will let you experience the spring freshness smell and decide you're going to try it.

If you're working in an office you'll find you can get freebies at work if you're in charge of stationary as many office supplies businesses will send you samples to get you to try their service.

Companies entice you to try their products or services - some give you a complete freebie, some just discounts or really good introductory offers to get you to test them out.

Many companies have established themselves high in their field by doing this.

Companies who want to test the marketing for a product may send out 1000 invites to apply for a free sample of "Washing powder which washes whiter" and 1000 to apply for a sample of "Washing powder which washes brighter"
Its the same product - but they'll see which marketing angle gets most take up and use that.

Either way - make the most of the free samples you find - cut out the coupons and use them! Make the most of them!
